The Artist Julie Stevens
The artist, Julie Stevens studied Fine Art at BTEC diploma level, and has a BA Hons Certificate in Life-painting and drawing. She offers original art at affordable prices, by producing limited edition *giclee canvas prints, and posters.
Her colourful works, abstracts, portraits, life and landscape, are produced using oils, acrylics, mixed media, screen printing, inks and charcoal. These original paintings and drawings are then digitally enhanced, and printed onto canvas or as high quality posters. Variations on the original can be achieved by using digital techniques to alter the paintings in terms of colour, cropping and size. Waterproof canvases are also available for use in bathrooms, conservatories and gardens.
“Inspiration can come from anywhere, sometimes topical issues, for example, a lot of the pictures of veiled women, e.g. Blue Shroud and Flight, were done at the time of 9/11. The picture of Mother and Baby was inspired by a photograph with a newspaper article, (the actual article is used as mixed media in the picture) about tribal warfare in Africa. This woman rescued the baby from its dead mother, who was from the opposing tribe. Other sources of inspiration include music, dance, and scenery.
“Recently I have included digital techniques and I am finding this a fascinating way to develop my paintings in various ways.
“I hope that others get pleasure from the work that I am doing. Thank you for looking at my paintings, and please contact me if you need more details.”
*A 'giclee' print is a piece of artwork produced from a high resolution digital file by spraying micro droplets of archival ink onto fine art paper or canvas
